It’s a pleasure to announce “GYRE Session 2022 with Dervish Online” with enormous cooperation from Plankton, Dervish and 35 Japanese artists who put so much effort into Cruinniú 2022, which had to be cancelled despite efforts to proceed by the INJ.
“The title is ‘GYRE Session (swirl session)’ which is a circular concept that connects Japan and Ireland. “It was a great gathering with 35 performers coming together,” commented Plankton.
Thanks a million to Dervish and all the Japanese artists who took time out of their busy schedules to participate in the session.
Have a wonderful St.Patrick’s Day!

Due to unforeseen circumstances the INJ will not be producing a “Cruinniú” event this year. HOWEVER, we are happy to announce the Tokyo INJ has partnered up again this year with our wonderful supporter the Japanese Nursing Accusation for the Greening of their head office in Omotesando from March 12 till 20th.
For those that are looking to celebrate St Patrick’s day with a Japanese twist the Tokyo INJ are collaborating with Matcha. The concept is “Let’s celebrate St. Patrick’s day with Matcha!!” This campaign will be held nationwide from March 7th to 31st.
There are two ways to get involved. 1st is on SNS events see the links below https://www.facebook.com/matcha.St.Patricks.Day
On behalf of the INJ have a fantastic and safe St Patrick’s day with your friends and family!
The Tokyo INJ look forward to hopefully seeing everyone at next year’s parade in Omotesando.
Sláinte.
To all our Parade participants, supporters and volunteers,
Due to an ongoing concern of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), Irish Network Japan committee officially announces the cancellation of 2022 Tokyo’s St Patrick’s Day parade. It is with heavy heart that the parade has been cancelled since 2020, but public safety and health are the first priority. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this cancellation may cause.
This year, however, the INJ (Tokyo) will have our online event under the theme of “Cruinniú” in place of the annual parade. This will be a live stream video where guests from Japan and Ireland discuss all aspects of Irish Culture in Japan. The event will include interviews with several well known Irish and Japanese personalities as well as dance and music performances.
It will stream live on the 20th of March on Zoom. Please check our HP or SNS for more information, for more details.
Thank you for your understanding and hope to see you all next year.

The Tokyo INJ St. Patrick’s Day Parade is the biggest Irish celebration in Asia and has been on the go since 1992. This year over 50,000 people lined the illustrious Omotesando avenue in downtown Tokyo to witness another spectacle of Irish culture & pomp. Here’s just some of the media coverage that followed the event. We’re already planning for next year so if you or your company want to be involved please do contact the INJ to explore possibilities!
